Nate Reinking is the most prolific basketball player in the history of Galion High School. As the NOL high scorer three consecutive years, he finished his career at Galion with 1, 702 points earning him third place scoring in the Northern Ohio League. Owning numerous records at Galion, Nate went on to play basketball at Kent State University, where he led in scoring for three years, and held several records. Following graduation from KSU, Nate has played professional basketball in Europe since 1996. Nate signed with the British Basketball League club Leicester Riders in 1996. He averaged 18.3 points per game and 3.0 rebounds per game in his first season for the Midlands team. In 1998, Nate joined Riders' rivals the Derby Storm, where he posted 17.9 points per game and 2.3 rebounds per game. The following season, he moved further north again to sign with the Sheffield Sharks, where he spent six seasons before moving to the Belgian League and Euphony Bree in 2005, and then onto Dexia Mons-Hainaut in 2007. Reinking is also a member of the Great Britain National Basketball Team. He was named England Player of the Year in 2008 and played with GB at the European Championships in 2009 and 2011.
GB Bastketball's oldest international player, Nate admits only the prospect of playing at the London 2012 Olympics is stopping him from retiring. "I never planned to play this long," admitted Reinking, who has an English wife and British passport."Retiring has crossed my mind. I have been taking it year by year. But as the years have passed it has got closer to 2012. "Now that is pretty much my only goal playing-wise to make it on to the team "If I can get there, it would be by far the pinnacle of my career."This is the only goal I have left as a player.
